Revolutionizing Electric Vehicle Charging with Mobile Solutions

Yüce Auto-Škoda is reshaping the electric vehicle landscape by delivering charging services directly to users, alleviating concerns about range anxiety that could deter potential buyers. This innovative project, powered by durable ABB products, transforms commercial vans into mobile fast-charging units capable of servicing any brand or model of electric vehicle.

The mobile charging initiative aims to address key concerns of electric vehicle users: range limitations and service interruptions. By utilizing an application, users can summon a mobile charging station to their location when they run out of battery or cannot reach a charging point.

Components of Mobile Fast-Charging

These mobile units are equipped with a charging unit, an electric vehicle battery, a liquid cooling system, a control unit, and auxiliary equipment. Designed to withstand tough road conditions and rough terrains, the system ensures uninterrupted service with its impact-resistant features. The compact design is resilient to high temperatures, integrating seamlessly with control systems for reliable operation.

Central to this solution is ABB’s HES880 Mobile Inverter, which, along with low-voltage ancillary equipment, supports the efficient functioning of the system.

Statements from Key Figures

Zafer Başar, Yüce Auto-Škoda General Manager said: “We are taking our strong cooperation with ABB, which we started in the field of fixed charging stations, even further with our mobile charging services. As Yüce Auto-Škoda, from the moment we introduced our electric vehicles to the Turkish market, we set out the aim of creating an eco-system and uninterrupted electric vehicle experience rather than a product.”

Saim Baran, ABB Global Rail System Retrofit Manager and Türkiye Drive Systems Division Manager said: “We are very pleased that the cooperation that started with Yüce Auto-Škoda Türkiye, which is the dealer network with the fastest charging infrastructure in the country with 360 kW DC technology, continues to increase with mobile DC fast charging solutions.”

Flexible and Reliable Charging Systems

The HES880 Mobile Inverters offer versatile functionality as DC/DC converters, providing both slow and fast charging options. Thanks to ABB’s advanced software, the system can deliver rapid energy support, charging from 20% to 80% in about 20 minutes during emergencies, while offering cost-effective slow charging during off-peak hours.

Focusing on user safety, these inverters feature maintenance-free closed system designs and a high voltage lockout loop (HVIL) for safety. This technology not only supports zero-net mobility but also promotes a circular economy by repurposing end-of-life batteries.

The partnership between ABB and Yüce Auto-Škoda represents a joint effort to enhance the flexibility and accessibility of electric mobility. By integrating fixed infrastructure with mobile solutions, they aim to provide a seamless and efficient experience for electric vehicle users.
