HEA Energy has acquired jack-up vessels Thor and Wind Lift 1 from Semco Maritime, establishing a long-term partnership between the two companies.
The acquisition, along with a long-term charter agreement, secures vessel availability for Semco Maritime. This creates a robust platform for major component exchange and overhauling services in the European offshore wind market.
The partnership integrates Semco Maritime’s technical expertise in offshore wind services with HEA Energy’s 40 years of maritime expertise and scalable marine operations.
“The long-term partnership with HEA Energy will create lasting value by merging Semco Maritime’s expertise in major component exchanges and overhauling with HEA Energy’s maritime capabilities. We are establishing a strong foundation that increases flexibility for our customers and supports the continued growth of offshore wind across Europe,” said Thomas Thomsen, Senior Vice President, Renewables, Semco Maritime.
The partnership is supported by Semco Maritime’s overhauling facility in Emden, Germany, equipped with a 450-ton gantry crane and direct North Sea access. The facility serves as a hub for refurbishing and logistics of wind turbine components, efficiently supporting new and existing offshore wind projects.
“The acquisition of Thor and Wind Lift 1 and long-term charter agreements marks the start of a lasting relationship with Semco Maritime. By combining Semco Maritime’s technical capabilities and strategic infrastructure in Emden with HEA Energy’s maritime platform, we are creating a compelling foundation for future growth,” stated Jonas Munch Agerskov, CEO Europe, HEA Energy.
The partnership is strategically positioned to deliver long-term growth by leveraging opportunities from a growing project pipeline with leading offshore wind developers, including Ørsted, RWE, and Equinor.
