Initially revealed in Korea, the Vision Meta Turismo has now made its grand entrance on the global stage. According to Karim Habib, Kia’s global design chief, the concept is a “significant milestone” that offers a glimpse into the brand’s evolving “Opposites United” design philosophy.

With a focus on three core principles—performance driving, immersive digital experiences, and a lounge-like cabin—the Vision Meta Turismo embodies Kia’s progressive vision. Its aerodynamic design draws inspiration from jet aircraft, offering a low-riding silhouette reminiscent of a Lamborghini or Kia’s own Stinger.

Inside, the vehicle caters to gamers with features such as a joystick, Virtual Gear Shifter, Button Launch Control, and Virtual Engine Sounds, all designed to create an arcade-like experience. An innovative steering wheel concept hints at Kia’s next-generation interface ambitions.

Drivers can choose from three distinct drive modes: Speedster, Dreamer, and Gamer. Speedster mode transforms the driving experience with a wide-angle augmented reality (AR) head-up display (HUD), sequential lighting, and sound effects. Dreamer mode, suitable for urban environments, offers a virtual experience using AR HUD and AR glasses. Gamer mode, designed for when the vehicle is stationary, delivers a virtual racing experience.

Kia has confirmed that a production version of the Vision Meta Turismo is in the works. However, the timeline for its appearance on public roads remains uncertain. According to Habib, the electric sports car will be produced when it can be manufactured at a reasonable cost.

While SUVs like the Sportage and Seltos dominate Kia’s lineup, the company sees a niche for smaller performance models. Habib emphasized the brand’s commitment to continuing its legacy of producing models like the Stinger, aiming to appeal to the “gamer generation” with the Meta Vision Turismo.

Alongside the Vision Meta Turismo, a fastback version is reportedly 90% production-ready, with potential market release in the coming years. The electric successor to the Stinger might adopt the name EV7 or EV8, fitting into Kia’s expanding electric vehicle portfolio. Meanwhile, Kia’s new design language will debut on upcoming models, including an electric variant of the Picanto (EV1), set for release by 2027.

As Kia navigates the evolving automotive landscape, the Vision Meta Turismo stands as a testament to the brand’s innovative spirit and dedication to performance and design.
