In a notable expansion move, Buc-ee’s, widely adored for its expansive convenience stores, is set to establish a new location in Tallahassee. This development is part of the Texas-based chain’s broader initiative to increase its presence in Florida, where it already operates two stores. The upcoming Tallahassee project promises to be substantial, featuring a 75,000-square-foot outlet with an impressive array of amenities.
Buc-ee’s has secured over 30 acres near Interstate 10 for this new venture. The planned facility will include 120 fueling stations and 795 parking spaces, with provisions for electric vehicles as well. An additional 20 acres of commercial land and 60 acres earmarked for residential development will complement the store. According to Rick Minor, the district representative, the project is in its preliminary stages, with Buc-ee’s yet to submit detailed development plans for review. Public hearings will be held to gather community input.
Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with a projected opening in 2027. The new store aims to offer more than just fuel, positioning itself as a destination with its wide range of store-brand products, such as jerky, roasted nuts, and the iconic Beaver Nuggets. Additionally, the chain is celebrated for its exceptionally clean restrooms and the unique shopping experience it provides, which includes an assortment of home goods, BBQ grills, and a friendly beaver mascot.
Current and Upcoming Florida Locations
Currently, Florida hosts two Buc-ee’s stores:
- St. Augustine: Open since February 2021, this location features 52,600 square feet and 104 fueling stations.
- Daytona Beach: This store, which opened in March 2021, encompasses 53,000 square feet with 104 fueling stations, and recently added a 235-foot-long car wash.

The Largest Buc-ee’s
The title of the largest Buc-ee’s belongs to its Luling, Texas location, which spans over 75,000 square feet. While the Tallahassee store is substantial, the company intends to keep its largest outlets within Texas. “Regarding square footage, the largest store outside of Texas will not exceed 74,000 square feet,” a spokesperson clarified in 2024.
