Volkswagen Unveils ID. Unyx 08, Targeting China’s EV Market in 2026
The Volkswagen Anhui joint venture is set to introduce the ID. Unyx 08 to Chinese dealerships in 2026, marking its latest foray into the rapidly expanding electric vehicle sector in China. Based on the ID.EVO concept unveiled earlier this year, the ID. Unyx 08 will offer a blend of advanced features and design elements to appeal to eco-conscious consumers.
Key Features of the ID. Unyx 08
The ID. Unyx 08, an all-electric SUV, is shaped by the collaborative efforts of Volkswagen and Xpeng. It maintains the ID.EVO’s sleek design, featuring clean surfaces, frameless doors, and an illuminated wolf badge on the rear spoiler. The vehicle measures 196.9 inches in length, offering a spacious alternative in Volkswagen’s lineup.
Performance and Specifications
Buyers can choose between single and dual motor options, with the vehicle promising a range of up to 435 miles on the Chinese Testing Cycle (CLTC). The all-wheel-drive variant combines a 308 hp rear motor and a 188 hp front motor, totaling 496 hp. The SUV is based on an 800V electrical architecture and utilizes a lithium-iron-phosphate battery from CATL.
Interior and Technology
While interior images remain undisclosed, Volkswagen has confirmed the presence of an onboard AI assistant and L2++ driver assistance features. Based on current trends, a large central infotainment display and a compact digital instrument cluster are expected to be included.
Strategic Expansion in China
The ID. Unyx 08 is part of a broader strategy by Volkswagen Anhui to introduce 30 new models in China, 20 of which will be electrified. It will join the ID. Unyx 06 and ID. Unyx 07 as part of the expanding lineup. Additionally, a new electric sedan sharing components with the Xpeng P7 is expected to follow.
