Venterra Companies Enhance Services and Extend Geographic Presence

UK's Venterra Group expands as INSPIRE Environmental opens in Scotland and GeoForce launches new soil testing.
Venterra Companies Expand Capabilities, Geographical Reach

UK-based Venterra Group has announced two significant developments. INSPIRE Environmental has expanded into Scotland, while GeoForce Technical Services has launched advanced geotechnical soil testing.

INSPIRE Environmental has established a base in Aberdeen to support offshore wind projects across Scotland, the UK, and Europe. The new location facilitates quick mobilisation of marine environmental teams and enhances access to expertise in survey, consenting, construction support, and long-term monitoring. The company offers services in benthic and fisheries science, underwater acoustics, and environmental data services.

INSPIRE’s expansion is timely as Scotland prepares for large-scale development following the ScotWind and INTOG rounds. The UK government has also awarded 8.4 GW of offshore wind capacity in the AR7 auction.

The UK has updated its benthic survey guidance, setting high expectations for evidence quality. The latest auction round accelerates the pipeline, with emphasis on environmental performance and consenting confidence. Policy is tightening on underwater noise and marine mammal protection, with guidance from the Joint Nature Conservation Committee now integral to the consenting process.

“We’re providing comprehensive data to support sustainable offshore energy projects, ensuring cost-effective and reliable science. Collaborating with Oceanscan and Venterra Group, we aim for significant environmental outcomes,” said Annie Murphy, Senior Director and Head of UK at INSPIRE Environmental.

Following INSPIRE’s expansion, Venterra announced GeoForce Technical Services’ new geotechnical soil testing capabilities, featuring a 24/7 on-board soils laboratory and enhanced onshore testing. This service offers comprehensive offshore site investigations.

The first project under this new capability was conducted for survey company Sulmara, integrating cone penetration testing (CPT), vibrocorer operations, and thermal resistivity testing. GeoForce collected over 500 meters of soil samples and 300 meters of CPT data, processed in real time for informed decision-making.

“Our investment in closing the loop from offshore acquisition to testing and reporting is demonstrated by the Sulmara project,” said James McDonald, Managing Director of GeoForce.
