Trump Calls for Investigation into Climate Policy Advocates at U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum

In a bold statement at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum, former President Donald Trump suggested that individuals promoting radical climate policies should face immediate scrutiny. Speaking at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Trump criticized what he called “failed” leftist models, including climate change regulations, asserting that the American public had rejected these approaches.

The forum gathered influential figures in global investment, featuring speakers such as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang. Trump, addressing the audience, noted a shift in environmental terminology from “global warming” to “climate change.”

“Perfect words, ‘climate change.’ They’re covered if it rains, if it snows, if it’s warm, it’s climate change, ‘it’s destroying the world,'” Trump remarked. He further implied a need for investigation, stating, “It’s a little conspiracy out there. We have to investigate them immediately. They probably are being investigated.”

Although Trump did not specify who should be investigated, he has previously criticized initiatives like the Green New Deal, labeling it the “Green New Scam.”

Recently, Trump declared October as “National Energy Dominance Month,” criticizing the Biden administration’s energy policies. He claimed that the Green New Deal “shuttered dozens of coal plants,” leaving the U.S. power grid vulnerable and outsourcing energy jobs globally.

In a White House statement on Earth Day, the Trump administration emphasized policies promoting American energy independence and resource management, contrasting them with what they described as the previous administration’s ineffective spending.

Trump concluded his remarks at the forum by affirming, “America is back and America is open for business. And America is actually stronger than it’s ever been before.”

The forum also highlighted a significant commitment from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to increase Saudi investment in the U.S. to nearly $1 trillion. Trump praised this move, reflecting on the potential seen in the U.S. market. “You know, that’s great. I appreciate that. That’s great. We’re doing numbers that nobody’s ever done,” Trump said, to which MBS agreed.
