Northeastern Oklahoma is set to become a hub for innovation as Mecad USA announces plans to establish its U.S. operations at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa. This strategic move is anticipated to generate nearly 300 jobs, tapping into the region’s growing potential and leveraging recent state policy advancements.
Mecad USA’s CEO, Candido Romero, highlighted the benefits of Oklahoma’s 2025 behind-the-meter legislation, stating, “The flexibility provided by Oklahoma’s new behind-the-meter law significantly de-risks our energy strategy. Coupled with the Port’s infrastructure and the state’s transportation network, the site is ideally suited for our next phase of innovation.”
The company, known for its expertise in precision components, industrial automation, and advanced systems, will use the Tulsa Port of Catoosa as a base for its North American operations. The location offers access to multimodal transportation and regional supply chains, aligning perfectly with Oklahoma’s thriving manufacturing sector.
The anticipated job creation will span engineering, production, maintenance, and support roles, with hiring expected to commence in mid-2026. Mecad USA plans to focus on workforce partnerships and specialized training in automation, additive manufacturing, and systems integration to meet its workforce needs.
John Budd, CEO of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, commented on the state’s appeal, saying, “It’s been an extraordinary year for economic development in Oklahoma, and companies continue to see our state as the best place in the country to raise a family and start or grow a business. With our affordable energy and business-friendly policies, Oklahoma is the perfect home for next-generation manufacturers like Mecad USA.”
Leveraging Legislation and Infrastructure
Oklahoma’s Senate Bill 480, enacted in 2025, allows companies to develop their own on-site power generation and storage systems without the constraints of public utility regulations. This legislative change provides Mecad USA with the opportunity to tailor its energy systems to enhance resilience, cost optimization, and sustainability, while also reducing typical utility interconnection lead times.
The Port of Catoosa’s strategic connectivity to rail, barge, and roadway presents an ideal setting for Mecad USA’s manufacturing and distribution operations. The facility will host advanced automation and systems assembly, fostering an environment that supports growth and innovation.
