Anticipating Kia’s 2026 Electric and SUV Portfolio
Following its most successful November in its 33-year history in the US, Kia America is set to achieve a third record sales year in 2025.
In response to policy shifts under the Trump administration, including the elimination of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit and new tariffs on imports, Kia is adjusting its 2026 lineup.
The Kia Soul, known for its iconic dancing hamster commercials, will be discontinued for 2026. Kia is phasing out the Soul to pave the way for a new wave of SUVs in the US.

Transitioning to New Models
Kia America’s marketing head, Russel Wager, shared with Car and Driver that these changes will likely affect other vehicles and pricing. The EV3 is still anticipated to debut in the US in 2026.
Other updates to Kia’s 2026 offerings include the redesigned Sportage, available in gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions. The larger Sorento, with optional three-row seating, is also available in gas, hybrid, and PHEV configurations.
With the Soul no longer part of the lineup, the Seltos becomes Kia’s most affordable SUV for 2026. Aside from a new LX FWD trim, the Seltos remains largely unchanged from the previous model.
The Niro continues into 2026 in hybrid, PHEV, and all-electric formats. A major update is expected for the 2027 model year, with speculation that the Niro could be replaced by the EV3.
Kia’s current electric models, the EV6 and EV9, experience minimal changes for 2026. The EV6, refreshed significantly in 2025, now boasts an extended range, enhanced design, a new NACS port for Tesla Supercharger access, and an improved infotainment system.
The 2026 Kia EV9 introduces a Nightfall edition with a blacked-out aesthetic. A GT variant was planned but is now postponed indefinitely.
As per MotorTrend, the Kia Telluride will skip the 2026 model year in preparation for its 2027 overhaul, which will feature gas and hybrid options.
