The EEW Group is expanding its South Korean plant, EEW KHPC, in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do Province, to meet the increasing demand for offshore wind foundations in Southeast Asia and enhance its production capabilities.
The facility is already equipped for the production of foundation components weighing up to 900 tons, according to the EEW Group.
Starting in the second half of 2027, the plant will produce monopiles, pin piles, jacket components, and legs with diameters of up to 13 meters, unit weights of 2,500 tons, and lengths reaching 120 meters.
This expansion will allow the processing of up to 200,000 tons of steel into LSAW pipes annually, significantly increasing production from the current 60,000 tons to over 200,000 tons per year.
The EEW Group aims to position itself as a leading supplier for major offshore projects by expanding its capabilities.
“The offshore wind industry in Southeast Asia is expected to expand significantly in the coming years. The expansion of EEW KHPC allows us to proactively meet market demands,” stated Managing Directors Deok-Han Kim and Kwan-Gyu Tak.
To support this growth, the EEW Group has acquired additional production halls and adjacent land, effectively doubling the available production area.
Additionally, the plant’s storage area at the port will be expanded, maximizing the use of direct port access as production capacity grows.
The expansion is expected to create approximately 200 new skilled jobs, boosting regional employment opportunities.
Alongside its sister plant, EEW SPC in Rostock, Germany, the company boasts nearly 20 years of experience in manufacturing offshore wind components.
This investment enhances EEW Group’s status as a key manufacturer of offshore wind foundations.
