Acta Marine has received the second of its four new construction service operation vessels (CSOVs), Acta Hercules, set for deployment at a Dutch offshore wind farm. The company also reflagged its first newbuild CSOV, Acta Pegasus, to the French flag.
Acta Hercules will undertake a five-year charter with Vestas, aiding in offshore wind projects in Northwest Europe. Its first task begins at the Hollandse Kust West project in the Netherlands, Acta Marine reported on 24 March. On 8 May, Clarksons Port Services announced via social media that Acta Hercules arrived at the port of IJmuiden for its initial offshore wind project.
On 7 May, Acta Marine confirmed that Acta Pegasus, delivered by Tersan Shipyard in Türkiye earlier this year, was officially registered under the French International Register (RIF) on 6 May.
Initially operated by Acta Marine’s French subsidiary, created in 2022, the reflagging supports the company’s strategy to enhance its presence in France and bolster offshore wind efforts in the French and European markets, as stated by the vessel owner.
“Choosing the French flag for Acta Pegasus is a deliberate, long-term commitment,” said Nicolas de Boer, President of Acta Marine France. “Even with limited short-term activity in French waters, we strongly believe in France’s role within the European offshore wind supply chain.”
The other two CSOVs being built by Tersan Shipyard for Acta Marine, Acta Gemini and Acta Aquarius, are expected later this year. The 89-meter-long vessels are methanol-ready and feature Ulstein’s twin X-STERN hull design. They can house up to 135 individuals and come with advanced offshore access and lifting systems, including a 3D motion-compensated SMST gangway and a 3D-compensated crane.
