Dutch Duo Inks Inter-Array Cable Deal for Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm

A consortium of Boskalis and TKF has signed a contract with Skyborn Renewables to supply and install inter-array cables for the Gennaker offshore wind farm in Germany.

The contract includes delivering a complete inter-array cable system to connect the 63 wind turbines at the Gennaker site. TKF will manufacture around 140 kilometers of 66 kV inter-array cables in the Netherlands. Boskalis will handle the installation using its cable-laying vessel Boka Ocean.

The cables are scheduled for installation by the end of 2027. Boskalis stated that the contract is valued at EUR 50-150 million, indicating it is a “sizable” agreement. The company is also involved in the project through its subsidiary, Heinrich Hirdes EOD Services, which is handling unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance at the site.

Skyborn Renewables signed preferred supplier agreements for the Gennaker project’s foundations and inter-array cables in September last year. The company chose EEW Special Pipe Construction for monopiles, Dajin Heavy Industry for transition pieces, Seaway7 for foundation installation, and TKF and Boskalis for supplying and installing inter-array cables. Suppliers have since signed firm contracts.

Located approximately 15 kilometers north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, the Gennaker offshore wind farm will feature 63 Siemens Gamesa 13-236 turbines, with turbine installation set to begin in late summer 2027. Skyborn Renewables and the German transmission system operator 50Hertz have also signed an agreement to facilitate the full commissioning of the 976.5 MW wind farm by mid‑2028.
