Mammoet, Tugdock Seal Strategic Pact to Expand Use of Offshore Platform Tech

Mammoet and Tugdock Submersible Platforms Limited (Tugdock) have formed a strategic partnership to extend the use of the Tugdock Submersible Platform (TSP), a modular platform allowing large floating structures to be transferred from quaysides to water seamlessly.

As part of the agreement, Mammoet will assist Tugdock in promoting the TSP on a global scale, targeting sectors such as offshore wind, oil & gas, defense, civil engineering, LNG, and even the space industry.

“We’ve monitored Tugdock’s advances, especially in offshore wind, with great interest. The TSP system offers clear benefits to other marine sectors where Mammoet is already active,” stated Barnaby Mills, General Manager of Offshore Services at Mammoet.

Large floating structures are driven or skidded onto the TSP through a controlled process, allowing the platform to be submerged or raised as needed.

Each TSP is constructed from interlocking cells that can be inflated, deflated, and linked to form floating platforms up to 120 by 120 meters, with a lift capacity of 30,000 tonnes.

The companies note that each node point supports loads up to 350 tonnes, with buoyancy controlled by compressed air through computer systems and electronic gauges.

“While our initial focus was offshore wind, we see significant potential in other industries. Partnering with Mammoet affirmed our vision to scale this innovation globally,” said Shane Carr, CEO of Tugdock.

Beyond lifting applications, the TSP can extend quaysides, enabling more ports to support offshore wind projects.

It also offers a flexible alternative where permanent infrastructure is impractical, functioning as a floating jetty that eliminates dependence on tides. Platforms can serve as temporary offloading points, enhance vessel uptime, or act as bases for building large floating assets ready for launch, the partners commented.

In related news, Mammoet has signed an agreement with Heerema Marine Contractors to support installing topsides for TenneT’s 2 GW offshore grid connections.
