In a nod to its storied legacy, Kia marked its 80th anniversary with an exhibition that highlighted its journey and future aspirations. Central to this celebration was the Vision Meta Turismo, a striking concept car that hints at what Kia describes as “a new era of mobility.”

Debuting at the Kia Vision Square in Yongin, South Korea, this avant-garde sports sedan concept could potentially evolve into the EV8. Its design is so futuristic that one might think it was generated by AI, yet it is indeed a product of Kia’s official design channels.

With its bold and futuristic design, the Vision Meta Turismo presents a four-door grand tourer silhouette characterized by a sleek, elongated form and a sweeping, rakish windscreen extending beyond the front doors. Distinctive aerodynamic fins originate at the front, flowing towards the A-pillar. Notably absent are conventional door handles, with thin split headlights and cameras replacing traditional mirrors.

The rear lights resemble those on current Kia models such as the K4, while the vibrant yellow/gold color scheme is contrasted by a black panel under the windshield, creating an illusion of a shorter hood. This design follows Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, which also influences the EV4, EV5, and EV6 models. Despite its radical design, the concept evokes the spirit of the Kia Stinger, a model that’s garnered its own following.

Inside, the Vision Meta Turismo boasts a “lounge-inspired” cabin, offering a spacious and luxurious atmosphere. An elaborate glass roof enhances the open feel, though it might pose a challenge if repairs are needed. The dashboard, steering wheel, and driver’s seat are dressed in premium leather, while the passenger and rear bench seats feature a distinctive off-white fabric finish.

Central to the interior is a yoke-style steering wheel, which Kia claims “reimagines the next-generation intuitive driving interface.” The concept offers three digital driving modes: Speedster, Dreamer, and Gamer, each enhancing the driving experience with an AR Head-Up Display (HUD) that provides relevant information directly on the windshield.

While technical details remain sparse, the Vision Meta Turismo is expected to be an electric vehicle. Whether it will transition from concept to production remains uncertain, but Kia has promised to release “full information on the car in the near future.”

Should the Vision Meta Turismo transition to market, it may debut as the flagship EV8 GT, potentially taking on rivals like the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan. This innovative concept arrives as Kia America reports record-breaking sales, with 65,507 units sold in September alone, marking an 11% increase compared to the previous year and setting a new quarterly record with 219,637 units sold.
