Exciting Career Opportunity: Mid-Level Attorney
CATF is currently hiring a mid-level attorney with 5-10 years of relevant experience to join its U.S. Legal Team. The Legal Team plays a critical role in U.S. state and federal rulemaking, policy matters, and litigation. Attorneys in this role provide strategic legal advice, participate in drafting comments, and engage in litigation when necessary. The role also involves media outreach and collaboration with CATF program staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle litigation dockets, including conducting research, developing legal theories, and preparing legal documents such as comments, complaints, and motions.
- Provide expert legal and policy support to CATF programs, working closely with program experts and consultants.
- Establish and maintain relationships with clients and partner organizations, representing CATF in various coalitions.
- Mentor and supervise legal fellows, interns, and paralegals in research, drafting, and court preparations.
- Collaborate with CATF’s Communications and Marketing team for effective media strategies and serve as a spokesperson.
- Represent CATF in advocacy coalitions and public forums, including hearings and conferences.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education/Background:
- Juris Doctor degree and active law license in a U.S. jurisdiction required.
- Background in science or engineering is beneficial but not mandatory. Familiarity with air pollution control and technologies like carbon capture is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Highly motivated, proactive, and capable of delivering quality work independently and in a team.
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Effective management of litigation dockets and collaborative work with technical experts.
- Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience in environmental, administrative, and/or energy law, with a preference for Clean Air Act experience.
- Experience in coalition litigation and supervising junior legal staff.
- General:
- Strong work ethic, creativity, and good judgment.
- Willingness to travel for case work and meetings.
- Passion for CATF’s mission.
Compensation and Application Details
This full-time, remote position offers a flexible location within the United States. CATF provides an excellent benefits package, outlined on our careers page, and an annual salary range of $115,890 – $144,863, based on skills and experience.
