Join the Expert Fellowship Program and Empower the Clean Energy Transition
The clean energy transition is gaining momentum, and GridLab is at the forefront, seeking experts to bolster the technical capabilities of the clean energy advocacy community. Their new Expert Fellowship Program is designed to nurture mid-career professionals eager to start their independent consultancy focused on clean energy.
Description
GridLab, a non-profit organization, offers technical expertise to support clean energy initiatives and maintain system reliability. They aim to overcome the growing demand for skilled power industry professionals by training new experts through their fellowship program. Conflicts of interest have limited large consultancy firms’ collaboration with GridLab, making this initiative crucial for expanding the expert pool.
The Expert Fellowship Program offers funding, training, and advising to mid-career professionals who have recently launched or plan to start their consultancy. The goal is to cultivate experts who will provide ongoing technical support in clean energy and grid reliability advocacy.
PROGRAM DESIGN
The Expert Fellowship Program is structured to produce a new cadre of experts ready to deliver technical services to the clean energy sector. The selection process is confidential, allowing applicants to remain employed until their fellowship is confirmed. The process includes application, interview, selection, contract negotiation, and induction.
Depending on GridLab’s funding and strategic goals, multiple Fellows may be chosen each year.
What will fellows receive from the program?
- 500-1000 hours of guaranteed contract work over one year, with payment reflecting experience. Additional contracting may be possible.
- Active participation in GridLab-supported projects.
- Opportunities for co-branding with GridLab on public materials.
- Support for professional development, such as conference participation.
- Access to GridLab’s extensive expert and client networks.
Who are we looking for? A good fit means…
- No prior independent consulting experience, or less than three months as an independent consultant.
- A proven track record relevant to GridLab’s projects and a clear vision for contributing to GridLab’s mission.
- Interest in collaborating with GridLab’s partners and clients.
- Eligibility to work as a contractor in the United States.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
- The program is intended to inspire experienced power systems professionals to establish independent technical support businesses aiding the clean energy sector. Thus, established consultants active for over six months with GridLab or its partners are not eligible.
- Applications from employees of firms already contracted with GridLab are not accepted to avoid conflicts of interest and to expand the network of available experts.
- GridLab holds the right to terminate the fellowship if performance expectations outlined in the contract are not met.
