Floating wind foundation developer Gazelle Wind Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Titan Wind Energy, a Chinese manufacturer of wind turbine components. Titan Wind also operates in Denmark and Germany.
The MoU was signed during a Gazelle delegation visit to Titan Wind’s Nantong facility in Jiangsu, China.
Gazelle announced on social media that the partnership aims to enhance cooperation and advance the industrialisation and global deployment of floating wind technology.
The agreement includes optimising Gazelle’s floating offshore wind platform technology to meet Titan Wind’s manufacturing standards.
“We share Titan Wind’s vision for scaling and industrialising floating offshore wind globally. This partnership endorses Gazelle’s technology from a respected player in offshore manufacturing. By aligning our engineering standards, we’re setting the stage for large-scale commercial deployment”, said Jon Salazar, CEO of Gazelle Wind Power.
Gazelle is working on a 2 MW pilot project in Portugal, revealed in 2023 in partnership with Portuguese developer WAM Horizon.
In November 2024, Gazelle secured EUR 11.4 million to accelerate the Nau Azul demo project and received a 10-year permit from Portugal’s Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM).
Earlier this year, Gazelle secured an additional EUR 2 million through an investment from Banco Português de Fomento (BPF) with Indico Capital Partners.
In July, Gazelle entered a strategic agreement with dstgroup, a Portuguese conglomerate. Dstgroup’s venture firm will invest EUR 1.5 million in Gazelle, and its subsidiary will fabricate modular steel structures for Gazelle’s Nau Azul project.
