DeepOcean and TFKable Plan JV for Inter-Array Cable Projects with Dedicated Vessel

DeepOcean and the controlling entity of TFKable Group are setting up a joint venture (JV) to offer integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) services for inter-array cable projects in offshore wind. The venture will also feature a new dedicated inter-array cable-laying vessel (CLV).

The JV will provide comprehensive services for inter-array cable projects, including seabed mapping, route surveys, engineering, cable manufacturing, transportation, trenching, installation, and cable protection.

The collaboration will merge TFKable Group’s subsea cable technology with DeepOcean’s expertise in offshore engineering and seabed intervention. It will initially focus on inter-array cable systems, with potential expansion to other subsea cable applications.

“Offshore wind developers increasingly seek more collaboration across the supply chain. By combining cable manufacturing with offshore installation capabilities, we aim for a more efficient model that reduces interfaces, strengthens risk management, and enhances project certainty,” stated Øyvind Mikaelsen, CEO of DeepOcean.

The collaboration involves a multi-year development program, with capabilities introduced gradually and key development milestones planned through 2029.

The CLV will be owned by a separate entity, including Poland’s state-owned Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu (ARP), DeepOcean, and the controlling entity of TFKable Group. Progress is ongoing toward achieving necessary project sanction milestones.

TFKable Group’s investments in subsea cable manufacturing capacity and technology in Poland and the UK will support the integrated offering.

The JV’s establishment and operation require approval from relevant competition authorities and the completion of standard closing requirements.

“TFKable and JDR Cable Systems have developed strong expertise in inter-array cable solutions, backed by investments in technology, manufacturing, and product development. With DeepOcean’s offshore capabilities, we see an opportunity for a more integrated solution covering more of the cable project lifecycle,” said Piotr Mirek, a member of the Management Board of Tele-Fonika Kable and Executive Director for Supply Chains and Investments in JDR Cable Systems.

“By combining these capabilities, DeepOcean and TFKable Group aim to reduce interface risk, enhance schedule certainty, and support efficient and predictable delivery of inter-array cable projects.”
