CAPE Holland, part of Venterra Group, has been awarded a contract by CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE) to provide its CAPE VLT-640 Tandem Vibro Lifting Tool for pin pile installation at the Fengmiao 1 offshore wind project in Taiwan.
CDWE, a collaboration between DEME and Taiwan’s CSBC, initially signed a foundation installation agreement for Fengmiao 1 with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) in June 2024. In January of the previous year, DEME announced that CDWE had secured a contract for transporting and installing 33 jacket foundations, pin piles, and an offshore substation for the project. CDWE will utilize the vessel Green Jade starting in early 2026.
Century Wind Power in Taiwan has begun producing the first jacket foundations for Fengmiao 1.
Venterra Group stated that CDWE chose the CAPE VLT-640 for its capacity to drive piles safely through difficult subsea soils, minimizing the risk of pile run.
“The CAPE VLT has installed over 400 jacket piles in Taiwan without a single pile run, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and risk reduction. Our collaboration with CDWE has substantially optimized the project schedule,” Venterra Group said in a press release on February 5.
Fengmiao 1, developed by Copenhagen Offshore Partners for CIP, is located 35 kilometers from Taichung. The site will feature 33 Vestas 15 MW turbines on jacket foundations, requiring 99 pre-installed pin piles. The offshore substation foundation includes a four-legged jacket structure with skirt piles.
