BYD’s New Luxury Electric SUV Set to Impress with Remarkable Range
BYD is poised to make waves in the electric vehicle market as it prepares to open pre-orders for the Denza N8 EV, a luxurious five-seat electric SUV, known for its impressive range of over 623 miles (1,000 km) under CLTC conditions.
Debut of the Denza N8 EV
First introduced in China in 2023, the Denza N8 was initially available as a plug-in hybrid SUV in six- and seven-seat versions. Now, BYD is launching an all-electric variant that promises the same range as its hybrid predecessor when both fuel sources were combined.
The new Denza N8 EV, hailed by Denza as “the king of large 5-seater pure electric vehicles,” will incorporate BYD’s second-generation Blade Batteries, offering a CLTC range of 1,003 km. This remarkable range is supported by BYD’s Flash Charging Technology, which can charge a vehicle from 10% to 70% in just five minutes.
Technical Specifications and Launch Details
According to a regulatory filing by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Denza N8 EV measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm. It houses a 130.15 kWh battery that ensures its extensive range.
Potential buyers can choose between a single rear-wheel-drive motor or a tri-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The RWD version offers power outputs of either 429 hp or 496 hp, while the AWD variant, based on BYD’s e3 platform, combines three motors for a total of 1,193 hp.
Li Hui, Denza’s general manager, announced that pre-orders for the Denza N8 EV would commence on October 26, with the official market launch slated for November.
Features and Interior Design
The Denza N8 EV is not only a powerhouse in terms of performance but also a testament to luxury and design. Inside, occupants will find two expansive digital screens: a 30-inch center infotainment screen and a 43-inch panoramic head-up display, enhancing the driving experience.
The SUV’s interior reflects a minimalist yet luxurious design approach, featuring ambient lighting, a three-spoke steering wheel, and premium materials. Recent sightings in China reveal the vehicle’s sleek design, equipped with roof-mounted LiDAR for advanced capabilities.
