Innovative Partnership Opens New Doors in Electrical Trades
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Green Water and Power (GWP) and Goodwill Southern California (Goodwill SoCal) have come together to offer practical training opportunities in the electrical sector. This initiative is designed to aid job seekers in acquiring essential skills as part of the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA), promoting career advancement and reducing employment barriers.
Targeting those with minimal work experience, the program is accessible to eligible candidates who meet specific criteria:
- Not previously employed by or currently working for Green Water and Power
- Unemployed or working fewer than 20 hours per week
- Authorized to work in the United States
- (For males) Registered with Selective Services
- Reside in Los Angeles County
Participants will gain hands-on experience in the electrical trade, acquiring skills that could lead to long-term employment with GWP or open doors to other industry opportunities. This collaboration allows GWP to tap into a pool of eager, trainable candidates while offering participants a chance to develop valuable industry experience.
“At GWP, we believe in empowering our community by making access to skilled trades training more inclusive,” said Christine Karlovic, Vice President at Green Water and Power. “By partnering with Goodwill SoCal, we’re able to provide individuals who may not have had previous opportunities with the tools and experience needed to build lasting careers—either with us or elsewhere in the industry.”
“This program is about breaking down barriers to employment,” added Shelah C. Potter, Associate Director, Youth Programs & Resource Centers at Goodwill Southern California. “Together, we are offering a supportive pathway for people to enter the workforce, learn in-demand skills, and improve their lives.”
