Halcyon Cars remasters classic Rolls-Royce and Bentley vehicles, blending classic charm with modern technology.
Even EV Restomodders Are Building Combustion-Engine Cars Now

In a world where classic cars are often either left to gather dust or modernized beyond recognition, Halcyon Cars takes a unique approach. This British company doesn’t just restore or reimagine; it “remasters” vintage Rolls-Royce and Bentley models. Established in 2023, Halcyon initially made waves by incorporating an 800V electric powertrain into these classic luxury vehicles, all while maintaining their timeless elegance.

The company’s latest venture, however, marks a surprising shift. Halcyon has turned its attention to the iconic 6.75-Liter V8 engine, launching what it calls the Great Eight Series. This move sees the company, known for its electric transformations, embracing the combustion engine.

Reviving the Classics

The first project to showcase this renewed focus on traditional engines is the Rose and Scroll design study. This initiative has resulted in a remastered Rolls-Royce Corniche Fixed Head Coupe, boasting a stunning Arboretum Green finish with Tan interiors and exquisite open-pore wood trims. The revamped 6.75-Liter V8 engine offers enhanced power and responsiveness, all while retaining the effortless composure that made it famous.

The Rolls-Royce Corniche, a distinctive Grand Tourer, was historically produced in various configurations, including coupe, convertible, and drop-head coupe. Notably, the drop-head coupe’s design allowed the roofline to remain consistent with the hardtop version when the roof was up. Despite its limited production, with only around 1,000 units made, this model remains a sought-after classic.

Halcyon Cars

Classic Rolls-Royce and Bentley models from the 1960s, 1970s, and into the 1980s offer an ideal foundation for such projects. These cars, particularly the more common models, are often available at lower costs as non-functional vehicles. Halcyon’s work breathes new life into these classics, making them both modern and magnificent once again.

“The 6.75-litre V8 delivers performance with a rich and distinctive character, and that is something we approach with a great deal of respect. Our focus was on applying the right engineering discipline to refine and elevate it for modern use, improving response, smoothness and overall composure while preserving the very essence that makes it so special. The result is an engine that feels entirely authentic, but capable in a way it never was before.”

Diverse Powertrain Options

Halcyon’s approach, delivering both modern electric and revived combustion powertrains, sets it apart in the restomod industry. Whether it’s an electric drivetrain providing quiet efficiency or a beautifully re-engineered vintage engine, Halcyon ensures these classic cars are not only roadworthy but cherished once more.
