Sif Group reports the successful ramp-up of its Maasvlakte II facility in Rotterdam, achieving an output of four monopiles per week. Central to this milestone is the integration of four Davi heavy-duty plate rolls, designed for the large dimensions of next-generation offshore wind foundations.
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – Sif Group has enhanced its manufacturing capabilities with the Maasvlakte II facility now producing four monopiles weekly. This follows significant equipment upgrades to meet the demand for 2,500-tonne monopiles.
The production line incorporates four heavy-duty plate rolls from Davi, a leader in heavy-duty rolling machines. The package includes two MCB (4-roll) and two MAV (3-roll variable axis) machines, fitted with specialized accessories for offshore wind demands.
Engineering for Mega-Monopiles
The shift to “mega-monopiles” needs equipment that can manage extreme thicknesses and diameters, maintaining structural integrity. The MCB machines enable a high-speed rolling process, reducing time for forming monopile sections.
MAV machines offer versatility for thicker plates, optimizing the rolling force with adjustable geometry to minimize “flat end,” crucial for Sif’s heavy-gauge steel units.
Enabling the Four-Monopiles-Per-Week Milestone
Sif’s achievement of producing four monopiles per week by December 2025 is supported by Dutch engineering and Italian manufacturing technology. Davi’s rolling solutions ensure that Sif’s forming stage aligns with assembly and welding processes.
