Volvo’s New Electric SUV: A Fresh Take on Range and Performance

The automotive world is buzzing as Volvo Cars introduces the EX60, a fully electric SUV that redefines expectations in its segment. Known for its impeccable design and safety features, Volvo now steps boldly into the electric vehicle (EV) market with a model that promises to eliminate range anxiety while enhancing user experience.

The five-passenger EX60 is Volvo’s strategic entry into the largest electric vehicle category, aiming to expand its market share and commitment to sustainability. “The new Volvo EX60 changes the game in terms of range, charging and price, and represents a new beginning for Volvo Cars and our customers,” said Håkan Samuelsson, CEO of Volvo Cars. This statement encapsulates the brand’s dedication to leading in the electric vehicle space.

Outstanding Range and Quick Charging

With an impressive range of up to 810 kilometers on a single charge in its all-wheel-drive version, the EX60 sets a new standard in its class. This extensive range, coupled with the capability to gain 340 kilometers of range in just ten minutes using a 400 kW fast charger, positions the EX60 at the forefront of electric vehicle technology.

Volvo’s approach ensures the EX60 offers maximum convenience without sacrificing performance, making electric driving more accessible and appealing. The seamless integration of design and technology achieves a balance that rivals traditional combustion-engine vehicles.

Streamlined Purchasing Process

Volvo has simplified the buying process for the EX60, offering clarity in pricing and delivery timelines. Customers can opt for a pre-configured model for immediate availability or customize their vehicle, which may extend delivery time slightly. The EX60 is available in seven variations, catering to diverse preferences and lifestyles.

Available powertrain options include the P12 AWD Electric with up to 810 km range, the P10 AWD Electric with 660 km range, and the P6 Electric offering rear-wheel drive and 620 km range. A 10-year battery warranty bolsters these offerings, and Swedish customers will initially benefit from three years of free home charging.

Innovative Architecture and Sustainability

Built on the new SPA3 electric platform, the EX60 embodies Volvo’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. The vehicle incorporates technologies like cell-to-body design and mega casting, which enhance energy efficiency and reduce weight. These innovations ensure the EX60 achieves the lowest carbon footprint of any fully electric Volvo, aligning with the company’s sustainability goals.

Design and Technology Integration

Volvo’s Scandinavian design ethos is evident in the EX60’s sleek, aerodynamic form, which contributes to its impressive drag coefficient of 0.26. The interior is crafted from premium materials, offering a blend of style and function with ample space and smart storage solutions. Audiophiles will appreciate the 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, which includes headrest speakers and supports Apple Music with Dolby Atmos.

Advanced Safety and Intelligence

The EX60 stands as one of the safest vehicles on the market, thanks to its advanced sensor suite and HuginnCore computing system. This technology ensures a comprehensive understanding of the car’s surroundings, enhancing safety features beyond current standards. Volvo’s multi-adaptive safety belt provides personalized protection, a testament to the brand’s innovative spirit.

Furthermore, the EX60 is equipped with Google’s Gemini AI assistant, allowing for natural, intuitive interaction. This feature is part of Volvo’s ongoing collaboration with Google, enhancing the vehicle’s infotainment system with quick response times and improved voice recognition.

With production commencing soon in Sweden, the EX60 will be available for order in Europe, with subsequent launches in the United States and Latin America. This strategic rollout marks a pivotal moment for Volvo as it continues to redefine sustainable driving.
