VinFast Launches Electric Vehicle Rental Program in Southeast Asia
VinFast, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled a new initiative aimed at promoting environmentally friendly transportation in Indonesia and the Philippines. The company has introduced a rental program for its electric vehicles, providing ride-hailing and transport service drivers an affordable entry into the green vehicle market.
The program, announced on April 8, 2026, offers a flexible rental option through VinFast’s authorized dealerships in both countries, in addition to conventional purchase methods. This initiative comes at a time of global fuel price instability, enabling drivers to access economical and dependable electric vehicles with minimal initial expenditure.
Drivers can take advantage of long-term contracts and competitive daily rates, starting from IDR 312,500 in Indonesia and PHP 1,000 in the Philippines. This structure allows drivers to start earning quickly without bearing the full cost of vehicle ownership. Those opting for vehicle ownership can benefit from tailored financing solutions that ease the upfront payment burden and align repayment with income flow.
VinFast’s offering, which includes the Herio Green and Limo Green models, is specifically designed to meet the demanding needs of frequent transport services. These vehicles emphasize durability and energy efficiency, ensuring a low total cost of ownership while maintaining comfort for everyday use.
The program will initially roll out in major metropolitan areas such as Greater Jakarta and Metro Manila, with plans for gradual expansion throughout both countries. Participants will also enjoy free charging at V-Green stations until March 2029, further reducing operational costs and enhancing efficiency.
Ms. Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy CEO of Global Automotive Sales at VinFast, stated, “Expanding access to electric vehicles in Indonesia and the Philippines represents VinFast’s next logical step in advancing the green transition of the commercial transport sector, which plays a critical role in achieving sustainable development goals. This initiative not only provides drivers with a stable source of income, but also contributes to improved quality of life and lower emissions. It underscores VinFast’s commitment to supporting driver communities as they transition toward more sustainable livelihoods.”
In addition to this rental program, VinFast’s parent company, Vingroup, is implementing several initiatives to support the green transition in the region. This includes the Trade Gas for Electric program, offering additional incentives and discounts on electric ride fares in Indonesia. Through these efforts, VinFast is facilitating the shift toward greener mobility and delivering economic benefits to its customers and communities across Southeast Asia.
