Euroports Group has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Noatun offshore wind project partners OX2 and Ålandsbanken Fondbolag to designate Koverhar Harbour in Hanko, Finland, as the logistics hub for the Noatun North offshore wind farm construction. The option extends to Noatun South.

During the WindEurope event in Copenhagen, the parties agreed to evaluate storage, assembly, and logistical requirements for the Noatun North project, set to begin in 2030. Significant port capacity is needed for key turbine components.
Euroports states that Koverhar Harbour has essential infrastructure for offshore wind logistics and can be swiftly upgraded to meet industry needs.
The Port of Hanko and Euroports will explore Koverhar Harbour’s long-term development for offshore wind, with an agreement signed in early 2024.
Euroports announced that partnering with Noatun strengthens Finland’s offshore wind infrastructure, securing vital port capacity to support industry expansion.
“This agreement cements Koverhar Harbour’s role in the offshore wind supply chain in the Baltics,” said Frédéric Platini, CEO & Vice Chairman of Euroports. “Our expertise in port operations and logistics will ensure seamless project execution, and we look forward to collaborating with OX2 to realize this vision.”
Swedish wind farm developer OX2 and Bank of Åland Fondbolag signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Noatun South offshore wind farm project in 2021. In 2022, they agreed on the Noatun North development north of Åland, led by OX2.
In 2022, OX2 began environmental impact assessments for the Noatun offshore wind farms after the Åland Government allowed site investigations.
The Noatun project, with 5.2 GW capacity, will feature approximately 340 turbines at Noatun North, producing nearly 20 TWh annually. Noatun South may have up to 310 turbines, generating around 18 TWh per year.
