BYD Introduces Enhanced Song Pro DM-i with Extended Electric Range in China
China’s automotive landscape sees an exciting update as BYD unveils the 2026 Song Pro DM-i, a long-range plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. This latest addition boasts a significant increase in pure-electric range, offering consumers an upgraded experience compared to the previous 133 km range models.
The newly launched variants of the Song Pro DM-i are priced competitively, ranging from 122,800 to 130,800 yuan before any incentives. In USD, these figures translate to approximately 17,560 to 18,720 at the current exchange rate of 6.99 yuan per dollar. After applying temporary purchase tax subsidies, these prices decrease to 119,800 yuan (around 17,140 USD) and 127,800 yuan (around 18,280 USD).
| Model Variant | Engine + Motor (kW) | Battery (kWh) | EV Range (CLTC, km) | Official Price (yuan) | Price After Subsidy (yuan) | Official Price (USD) | Price After Subsidy (USD) |

The standout feature of the 2026 Song Pro DM-i is its upgraded 26.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which extends the pure-electric range to 220 km under CLTC testing. This enhancement marks a significant improvement from earlier models equipped with a 133 km range.
Continuing with its hybrid legacy, the Song Pro DM-i integrates a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a 74 kW output, alongside a 120 kW electric motor. This system achieves a charge-depleted fuel consumption rate of 3.2 liters per 100 km.
While the physical dimensions of the compact-SUV remain unchanged, with a length of 4735 mm, width of 1860 mm, and height of 1690 mm, the long-range model offers additional exterior color options, upgrading the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal.
Enhancements in comfort and convenience include features like front-seat ventilation and heating, a refrigerator with heating and cooling capabilities, and a high-speed tire-burst stability control system, elevating the driving experience beyond what the 133 km-range models offer.
Technologically, the vehicle maintains BYD’s advanced “God’s Eye C” assisted driving system, which includes multi-sensor inputs and a suite of sophisticated driver assistance functions.
This launch aligns with BYD’s broader 2026 strategy, focused on increasing the electric range across its plug-in hybrid offerings to adapt to the evolving regulatory and consumer landscape in China.
