Role of an Assistant Project Manager at CEI
Cupertino Electric is searching for an Assistant Project Manager poised to make a significant impact on complex construction projects. This role is pivotal in facilitating communication between field teams, project teams, and customers. Assistant Project Managers (APMs) at CEI are responsible for fostering strong partnerships with vendors and subcontractors, managing project documents, and coordinating project activities such as change orders and requests for proposals.
- Direct team meetings and guide Project Engineers and Coordinators alongside the Project Manager.
- Collaborate with the scheduling department to compile essential scheduling data.
- Identify and communicate cost impacts from RFIs, submittals, and design changes promptly.
- Prepare change orders for review and approval in a timely manner.
- Oversee the management of closeout documents.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with third parties and follow up on outstanding items.
- Maintain effective partnerships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring timely and accurate material releases.
Knowledge: Developing professional expertise to apply company policies for resolving diverse issues.
Job Complexity: Handle moderately scoped problems by analyzing various factors, exercising judgment within defined practices, and building productive relationships.
Supervision: Receive general instructions for routine tasks and detailed guidance for new projects.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should bring innovative and entrepreneurial thinking to projects, with experience in supervising or guiding teams. Technical knowledge and communication skills are crucial for success, alongside a willingness to learn and improve processes. Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred. A minimum of three years of experience as a Project Engineer in electrical construction or general contracting is required, along with a valid driver’s license.
