The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT: A Leap Towards the Extreme with the Manthey Kit
For automotive enthusiasts seeking unparalleled electric performance, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has pushed the boundaries even further. The introduction of the Manthey kit transforms this high-performance vehicle into a more formidable contender, boasting significant enhancements that have set a new benchmark at the Nürburgring.
The Manthey Upgrade
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, equipped with the Weissach package, has already been a marvel. However, the addition of the Manthey kit takes it to a whole new level. The package includes rear aerodisc wheels, a massive rear wing, and unique body modifications, paired with extensive chassis and powertrain improvements.
These upgrades have not only enhanced the car’s aesthetics but have also contributed to its record-breaking performance. The Manthey-spec Taycan Turbo GT recently achieved a remarkable 6:55.553 lap time at the Nürburgring, establishing it as the fastest production electric executive car on this iconic track.
Performance Enhancements
The Manthey kit’s aerodynamic modifications are a standout feature, tripling the car’s downforce. At its top speed of 192 mph, the car generates 1631 pounds of downforce. The kit also features a larger front lip, carbon-fiber fender flares, and widened side skirts, all contributing to the car’s dynamic performance.
Additionally, the kit includes revised front and rear diffusers, underbody enhancements, and lighter, wider 21-inch forged wheels. A choice of street-legal track tires is available, complementing the upgraded braking system, which features larger front rotors and advanced brake pads. Porsche has also retuned the Active Ride suspension, steering, and all-wheel-drive systems to enhance driving dynamics.
Powertrain and Performance
The Taycan Turbo GT’s dual-motor powertrain has been optimized, with the pulse inverter now capable of a maximum current of 1300 amps, up from 1100. This modification enhances the vehicle’s power output, with peak torque increasing by 22 to 936 pound-feet in Launch mode, maintaining its 1019 horsepower.
During the record-setting Nürburgring lap, Porsche development driver Lars Kern piloted the Taycan Turbo GT with both the Weissach and Manthey packages, improving on the previous 7:07.55 lap time. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, equipped with the Track package, now holds the second-fastest lap time of 7:04.957.
