Norwegian Offshore Wind and the German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce have launched a joint working group to foster dialogue in offshore wind sectors between Germany and Norway.
This initiative builds on the Chamber’s previous group from 2022, gathering a wide array of companies in the offshore energy and subsea industries.
The group aims to pinpoint business opportunities, tackle regulatory challenges, and enhance supply chain integration between Germany and Norway. It will serve as a dialogue platform for industry participants and policymakers.
Norwegian Offshore Wind highlights that Germany and Norway are complementary in offshore wind. Germany, with over 9 GW of installed capacity and goals of reaching 30 GW by the early 2030s, contrasts with Norway’s robust offshore energy supply chain but nascent wind development phase.
“Combining Germany’s project volume with Norwegian offshore expertise in maritime operations, subsea engineering, and complex projects is a formidable match,” stated Norwegian Offshore Wind.
The group will address bottlenecks, promote cooperation, and facilitate connections between German and Norwegian firms in the expanding value chain, according to Norwegian Offshore Wind.
“Our collaboration can involve more actors across the value chain, unveiling new cooperation opportunities. This partnership will bolster knowledge exchange between industry and policymakers in both nations, building a competitive offshore wind ecosystem,” said Michael Kern, CEO of the German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce.
