FedEx Places Historic Order for Harbinger’s Electric Trucks

The automotive industry is witnessing a significant shift as FedEx, a global delivery giant, has committed to expanding its electric fleet with a substantial order from Harbinger. This move not only highlights a growing trend towards sustainability but also sets a new benchmark for fleet electrification.

On September 30, 2026, Harbinger, an American leader in automotive manufacturing, announced a groundbreaking order from FedEx for 2,000 all-electric trucks. Valued at over $300 million, this order is considered one of the largest for electric medium or heavy-duty trucks to date. Harbinger’s electric vehicles are expected to be delivered by the end of 2027, with deployment planned across FedEx’s U.S. and Canadian operations.

FedEx’s decision to increase its fleet of Harbinger vehicles builds on a previously successful deployment and follows its co-lead investment in Harbinger’s $160 million Series C equity raise. John Harris, Co-Founder and CEO of Harbinger, remarked, “FedEx is demonstrating that the business case for incorporating electric vehicles into real-world fleet operations at scale makes sense.”

This order is a strategic part of FedEx’s drive to modernize its fleet and cut emissions. Harbinger’s electric vehicles will replace traditional diesel-powered trucks, offering numerous benefits. Each truck is expected to save approximately $20,000 annually in fuel costs compared to its diesel counterpart, translating to an estimated $800 million in savings over two decades for the entire fleet.

The environmental impact is equally significant, with the transition expected to prevent more than 1.7 million tons of CO2 emissions. Paul Melander, Senior Vice President Safety & Transportation at FedEx, emphasized the importance of selecting vehicles that meet operational demands while delivering economic advantages.

Harbinger’s electric trucks are designed with both performance and driver comfort in mind. The vehicles feature advanced suspension systems, improved handling, and state-of-the-art driver assistance technologies. A notable design aspect is their industry-leading 42-foot turning diameter, enhancing maneuverability in urban and residential areas.

Harbinger’s commitment to delivering these vehicles within an 18-month timeframe is supported by its Canadian partner, Kaizen Automotive Group. The collaboration underscores the strategic importance of this partnership in achieving FedEx’s fleet electrification goals.
